Elizabeth McKay
Illustration & Graphic Design
Art & Design became a therapy for me during the Pandemic. I love Surrealism and typography. My time in Hospitality has helped me develop essential people skills like strong communication, empathy, and making sure a customer's needs are always met.
Education
I started learning Graphic Design skills through Skillshare classes, learning about typesetting, layout, magazine and brochure design. I began learning how to use InDesign through these classes.
Eventually I enrolled in a Post-Graduate Diploma at the British Academy of Graphic Design. Here I've been learning fundamental graphic design elements and principles such as hierarchy, space and contrast and applying them to class projects and case studies.
Career
In April 2024 I joined a non profit project called "Take The Love With You" as the Graphic Designer. This was my first real world project in which I learned how to communicate with a client and work with a small team. I created various Digital Illustrations using Adobe Fresco and Illustrator to create designs for a book cover, brand identity and other digital and print medias.
My goals for my design career are to work with people who are inspired to help businesses and individuals effectively express themselves through competent design and work along side businesses that I believe in.
